Choosing the right size of website

Is a One-Page Website Enough for Your Business?

A one-page website is usually enough for a new or small Irish business with one main service, where the site's job is to look credible and make it easy to call, WhatsApp or send an enquiry. You will usually need a multi-page site once you offer several distinct services, cover several areas, or want each of those to be found separately on Google.

What Is a One-Page Website?

A one-page website puts everything on a single scrolling page: an introduction, your services, a reason to trust you and a way to get in touch. The menu jumps to each section rather than opening new pages. A multi-page website gives each of those topics — and usually each service — a page of its own.

When Is One Page Enough — and When Isn't It?

A one-page site usually works when…

  • You are just starting out and need a credible site quickly.
  • You offer one main service, or a short list of closely related services.
  • Most of your work comes from referrals, word of mouth or social media, and people check you out before calling.
  • You want a clear, inexpensive starting point you can build on later.

You probably need more pages when…

  • You offer several distinct services and want each one found on Google.
  • You work across several towns or counties and customers search by area.
  • Your customers need detail before they get in touch — for example a professional firm, clinic or larger project.
  • You plan to add guides, project galleries or regular updates.

Why Does Page Count Matter for Google?

Google tries to match each search with the page that answers it best. Someone searching for "emergency plumber Navan" and someone searching for "bathroom fitting Meath" want different things. A single page can talk about both, but a separate, focused page for each usually has a much better chance of being shown. That is the main limit of a one-page site: it is good at being found for your name and one core service, and weaker for everything else.

A one-page site still benefits from the same local basics as a larger one: a linked Google Business Profile, consistent business details and a clear service area. The local SEO guide explains how those fit together.

What Should a Good One-Page Website Include?

With only one page, the order matters. A visitor on a phone should know within a few seconds what you do, where you work and how to contact you.

  1. 1

    Introduction

Who you are, what you do and where you work — in the first few lines, not buried further down.

  2. 2

    Services

A short, plain description of each service so a visitor can tell straight away whether you can help.

  3. 3

    Why choose you

Real reasons only: experience, qualifications, insurance or how you work. Nothing you couldn't back up.

  4. 4

    Recent work or photos

Your own photos of real jobs where possible. Stock images don't build trust in the same way.

  5. 5

    Contact

A tap-to-call number, WhatsApp, a short enquiry form and your service area or address.

One-Page Website Questions

Can a one-page website rank on Google?

Yes, for searches closely matching what the page is about — usually your business name and one main service in your area. It is much harder for a single page to show up for several different services or several different towns, because each of those searches is best answered by its own page.

How much does a one-page website cost with you?

Our Launch Website is a professionally designed one-page scrolling site at €499 + VAT, with Website Care from €29 + VAT per month for hosting and technical care. The full list of what is included is on the pricing page.

Can I add more pages later?

Yes. A one-page site can be extended into a multi-page site when the business grows. The existing sections usually become the starting point for the new pages. Extra pages are quoted at the time, or you can move up to a larger package.

Is a one-page website just a landing page?

They look similar, but the job is different. A landing page is usually built for a single campaign or advert. A one-page business website is your main site: it introduces the business, lists your services, shows how to get in touch and connects to your Google Business Profile.

Does a one-page website still need a contact form and WhatsApp?

Yes. The point of a small site is to make it easy to get in touch. Our Launch Website includes an enquiry form and a WhatsApp contact button, and your phone number should be easy to tap on a mobile.

Is one page enough for an accountant, solicitor or clinic?

Sometimes, for a very small or new practice. Professional firms often need separate pages for each service and for the people involved, because clients want to check credibility before they make contact. The professional services guide goes into this in more detail.
